“Crash the US settler state.” - An Actual UVA Professor
And yes, we have this on video...
Dr. Tiffany King, a professor at the University of Virginia, discussed her views on settler colonialism at a symposium hosted by Hunter College. She argued that the Palestinian resistance serves as inspiration for Black and Indigenous feminists to challenge and "crash" the U.S. settler state, drawing connections between U.S. policies and Israeli settler colonialism.
King highlighted the importance of solidarity with Palestinian struggles and endorsed the work of Melanie Yazzie, who calls for dismantling the U.S. government and an intersectional studies collective member of King’s Black and Indigenous Feminist Futures Institute (BIFFI) group. She also criticized the University of Virginia as a modern-day plantation, linking it to settler colonialism. Despite facing criticism and concerns about her safety, King intends to continue challenging these systems using institutional resources.
